Scamdemic

RSS Feed

This subsection contains posts I wrote during the Great Covid Scamdemic of the early 2020s. As you will see, I was very angry and sarcastic about what was going on, and wrote about it in a white-hot fury. I’m still angry about what happened (and is still going on), but the fury has died down.

Quarantine Nostalgia

#Covid19

As I get ready to pack up and leave Virtuous Vermont and head to CrazyFornia, I like to remember those fun times of 2020, when the world went ape-shit crazy. I don’t know what it was like in other states, but here the “rules” said that you if you visited a neighboring state, you had to quarantine for a week in your home before you could venture out into the world again. In other words, the Scary Virus was so bad that the mere act of crossing a state boundary would propel the Scary Virus into becoming a Sooper-Dooper Scary Virus of Doom.

Vermont Vaccination Data

#Covid19#Vermont

The Vermont Department of Health has published a document titled COVID-19 Vaccine Data. It gives data on the “[c]ompleted primary series and updated (bivalent) booster data as of April 11, 2023”. There are a number of interesting things to note about this data.

Sudden or Unexpected Deaths in Vermont

#Covid19

Coquin de Chien (John Paul Beaudoin, Sr.) has written a very informative and useful article about the occurrences of the words “suddenly” and “unexpectedly” in obituaries in the United States. Please read the article for the details and the alarming graphs, but the idea is that you can use Legacy.com’s obituary search engine to see how often these terms were used for particular date ranges and regions. The article shows graphs for the United States as a whole, and for several states individually. All of them show huge increases in the occurrence of “suddenly” and “unexpectedly” in obituaries in 2021. Of course, the very sciency scientific scientists are completely baffled about the cause, but it’s probably climate change or too many naps or something.

A Safe and Effective Message from the White House

#Covid19

Greetings, Virtuous Voters! We at the Ministry of Truthiness want to call your attention to a propaganda message that we had the White House deliver for us. It’s called the National COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. It’s so sciency and scientific that we wanted to go over a few important points and translate them into simple language so that even you feeble-minded but obedient serfs can understand them. Let’s dive into this awesome document.

Living With Verbal Abuse

#Verbal Abuse#Covid19

Two months before the March Madness of 2020, when the world went crazy over the Worst Disease Ever, I escaped from an abusive relationship after three years of failed attempts and confusion. (I believe this experience helped immunize me against the Curve-Flattening Crazies.) During the last few months before my escape, I started writing about my experience in a secret blog, which I showed to a very few trusted friends and relatives. To keep it hidden, I never linked to it anywhere on the public web (I shared it on a private forum). After three years of secrecy, I’m now going to put this blog on display for all to read. You can find the archive of posts here. A good place to start there would be the Book-Throwing Incident. That was the event that told me I needed to get serious about escaping; it took me another year and half to do that.

It Never Happened

#Covid19

Greetings, Pfizer Pfaithful! We at the Ministry of Truthiness are alarmed to hear that those anti-vaxxer, anti-science conspiracy theorists are back, claiming that during the last three years, we coerced people into doing things they didn’t want to do. We have checked with our Memory Hole Department, and after sifting through the charred, unreadable remains of historical documents, we can assure you absolutely no coercion ever happened! We never forced you stay at home. You had a choice: you could support the greater good by cowering at home, or you could get fined or arrested. No coercion there!

Darcy and Covid

#Covid19

In this post, the always excellent Rudolph Rigger offered this quote from Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice: My good opinion once lost is lost forever. This is a stance that I’ve been going back and forth on for the last two-plus years.

Down the Russian Rabbit Hole

#Covid19#Russia

Recently I decided to descend somewhat tentatively down a very big rabbit hole, perhaps the biggest of all: Russia. One of the guides I’ve chosen to lead me on this journey is the writer who goes by the alias Edward Slavsquat. He is a self-exiled American who has lived in Russia for quite a few years.

Who Is Robert Malone?

#Covid19

A very good question, that! Thank you for asking! Or maybe not… this question seems to have become a quagmire of muck for the swamp creatures inhabiting the Medical Freedom Movement, or whatever we are calling ourselves now.

Fourteen Years in Vermont

#Covid19

I moved to Vermont on this day fourteen years ago, after having lived for nearly all my life in the San Francisco Bay Area or outlying areas. (My family lived for a year in New Zealand when I was six years old, and I still consider that my first home.) I came to Vermont for a number of reasons, the main one being that I could actually afford to buy a house here. But there were other attractions, like being near the accurately named Green Mountains, and being able to go cross-country skiing without driving five hours first.
